Description
ORTEZ-1 is a medical complex for the rehabilitation of patients with impaired motor activity of the hands after stroke, central nervous system diseases and injuries, contributing to the restoration of skills and a sense of movement control through imagination.
The essence of the procedure:
Stimulation of neuroplasticity of the brain through the imagination of movements. During the training, it is realized:
- Passive movement of the limb according to the volitional intention of the patient, where the thought is transformed into a passive movement of the orthotic module.
- The formation of new neural networks using biofeedback (biofeedback), which contributes to restorative learning and the creation of new functional systems.

The algorithm of operation:
- The patient imagines the movement of the hand.
- The encephalograph reads the data, filters the noise and determines the command to move with the right or left hand.
- Specialized software converts EEG signals into commands for the exoskeleton.
- The patient imagines movement, the exoskeleton executes the command, creating a feeling of self-fulfillment.
The use of the Orthez-1 medical robotic complex is most effective in rehabilitation 2 months after the onset of a stroke, when the neuroplasticity of the brain allows for more efficient restoration of motor activity. There are no restrictions on the use of the statute of limitations for stroke.

The principle of operation of the complex
- Passive recording of brain activity using several electrodes
- Data transfer to electroencephalograph, transfer via USB
- Signal filtering. Classification of the electroencephalography signal

The technology is based on the ability of the cerebral cortex to spontaneous and modulated reorganization of neuronal networks due to neuroplastic processes.
